U.S. Navy Adds Command Ship to Eastern Mediterranean

The U.S. military, in the aftermath of the deployment of additional U.S. forces into Southwest Asia, is beefing up its command and control arrangements in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. The U.S. 6th Fleet announced in a press release yesterday that the command ship USS Mt. Whitney—the 6th Fleet’s flagship—departed from its port at Gaeta, Italy, “in support of U.S. operations.”
