Various media report that the U.S. is now selecting 2,000 U.S. troops to be deployed to the Middle East. They refer to reports that first came from the Wall Street Journal which in turn cites unnamed Pentagon sources. The troops will perform advisory and medical support missions, officials said. It is noted that they consist of representatives of the entire United States Army and are not intended to participate in combat operations. The troops are reportedly now located in both the Middle East and beyond, including in Europe.
