Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro issued a call for an international peace conference to help resolve the Palestine-Israel conflict, in his regular “Con Maduro Más” program on Monday, Oct. 16, after decrying the “tragic, devastating, chilling” report from UNICEF that more than 700 children have been killed in Gaza, so far, in Israel’s offensive.
“The bombings against the Gaza Strip, against the innocent, civilian Palestinian people must stop, the murder of children must stop, and an international conference must be held to seek peace in Palestine, in Israel,” he urged. Such a conference, “where the great powers are present, in addition to Palestine, to Israel,” must be convened on an emergency basis, because “an agreement beneficial to all peoples, to all parties and to stop the hatred, the violence, the war, is the only way out.” But, he added, as work towards a peace agreement goes ahead, “these criminal bombings against the children of Gaza must cease.”
