The disgraceful Stuart Seldowitz, who worked in the U.S. State Department’s Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs and then served as Acting Director of the National Security Council South Asia Directorate in the Obama administration, came to recent renown following the posting of multiple videos of him harassing halal food court vendors with deranged anti-Muslim rants. “Did you rape your daughter like Mohammed did,” he asked. “If we killed 4,000 Palestinian kids, it wasn’t enough,” he opined regarding the situation in Israel and Gaza.

Seldowitz, who has been arrested for his harassment, was identified by Russian diplomatic officials who recognized him as having harassed them for over a year. Dmitry Polyanskiy, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia at the United Nations, told The Grayzone that he recognized Seldowitz as a serial harasser of Russian diplomats as they walked from the UN to their offices. “We don’t have problems with someone expressing concerns or disagreements with our politics, but when it becomes personal and a person really harassed and stalks women, insulting them, telling them they are ‘whores’ and all these things, this is something that we couldn’t put up with,” said the diplomat, who added that Seldowitz had even tried to harass his dog while he was taking it for a walk!
With such louts serving as high-level State Department employees with responsibility for Israeli and Palestinian affairs, it becomes less of a mystery why a durable peace has not been achieved. And for those who are surprised that this man served under the Obama administration, perhaps you should adjust your assessment of that presidency!
