On Nov. 4, an interfaith meeting of over 500 people was convened in Haifa, Israel. The meeting took place in a mosque among Arabs and Israelis, and reports were that it was standing room only, with people nearly spilling out of the room. The event was put on by an organization called the Standing Together Movement to show solidarity with one another.

Sally Abed, a leader of the organization said in her speech: “Here in this country there are two peoples, and this country is the homeland of both of us. None of us is going anywhere, and the only way out of the violence and the pain is to move towards a peace agreement.”

Alon-Lee Green, national co-director of Standing together said: “While we are working on Jewish-Arab solidarity, there are extremist elements that take advantage of the rift and trauma to incite us against each other, disintegrate us as a society, distribute weapons, and try to open fronts more.”
