Kazakhstan Plans Port Modernization on Caspian Sea To Accommodate Growing Russian-Kazakh-China Trade

Kazakhstan plans large scale modernization of its Caspian Sea ports, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jamart Tokayev announced at the plenary session of the 19th Russian-Kazakhstan Forum on Interregional Cooperation held in Kostanay, Afghanistan Nov. 9.

Tokayev announced that his government will undertake modernization of the ports of Kuryk and Aktau. He also said that his nation is implementing a project to build second tracks on the Dostyk-Moyynty section of the railway, which will mean that over 1,300 km of railways will be built in Kazakhstan.
