Last night about 150 people from IfNotNow, Jewish Voice for Peace Action, Democratic Socialists of America, and others were brutally repressed by police as they gathered for a nonviolent act of civil disobedience in front of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) offices in Washington. The protesters, who called for the declaration of a ceasefire in Gaza, said they wanted to engage lawmakers who were inside the building. Instead, as they locked arms in front of the entrances, they were assaulted “without warning,” according to one of the participants. Police claimed the protesters were “violent.”
