“Mr. President, if you care about Jewish people, as a rabbi, I need you to call for a ceasefire right now,” Rabbi Jessica Rosenberg, active with Jewish Voice for Peace, called out to President Biden last night, amongst Biden’s supporters at a fundraiser in Minneapolis. Jewish Voice for Peace provided the video, adding that Rabbi Rosenberg “is speaking on behalf of thousands of American Jews who say Not In Our Name! We refuse to allow a genocide be carried out in our names.”

While the rabbi made her direct call to the President on behalf of Jewish people, an irate voice is heard, “Get out!” It is not clear whether the unidentified person was motivated by anti-Semitism, but, since the FBI has just assured Americans that they are alert to such offenses, perhaps they will investigate. Regardless, CNN reports that the rabbi was escorted out by security as she was singing “Ceasefire Now.” The audience at the fundraiser seemed to have other concerns, chanting “four more years.”

Biden made clear that he was against a ceasefire, and did so while obeying administration protocol of not actually using the word “ceasefire.” He stated, amid the chanting: “I think we need a pause. … A pause means give time to get the prisoners out.” He went on to say: “Well, I understand her emotion.
