U.S. Central Command Announces Ohio-Class Submarine Deployment

U.S. Central Command announced on the X platform yesterday that “on Nov. 5, 2023, an Ohio-class submarine arrived in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.” The vessel is not named. Accompanying the posting is a photograph showing a submarine passing through the Suez Canal on the surface, though it’s not clear when the photograph was taken. Also not specified is whether the submarine involved is a nuclear ballistic missile submarine or one of the four Ohio-class boats that was converted to carry Tomahawk cruise missiles and U.S. Navy SEALS. The vessel in the photograph is likely one of the converted boats as it has a dry deck shelter housing for SEAL operations attached to the deck.
