Hunter Biden Defies House Subpoena in Impeachment Investigation

Hunter Biden ignored a House subpoena today, having to do with an impeachment investigation into his father, Joe Biden. Instead he used his Congressionally mandated trip to Capitol Hill to attack his accusers. In front of the Capitol, he told reporters: “There is no evidence to support the allegations that my father was involved in my business because it did not happen. During my battle with addition, my parents were there for me. They literally saved my life. They helped me in ways I will never be able to repay. In the depths of my addiction, I was extremely irresponsible with my finances. But, to suggest that it is grounds for an impeachment inquiry is beyond the absurd, it is shameless.”

As Hunter Biden well knows, nobody suggested that. Rather, the House investigation has, among other things, a copy of a check made out to his father for $40,000, for what is claimed to be just one of the payoffs to the Biden family influence-peddling operations. Hunter Biden’s lack of responsibility with his finances has to do with the criminal charges for not filing with the IRS for several years, not with the matter before the House. He now faces possible contempt charges for ignoring the subpoena, that sought a closed-door hearing to depose young Biden under oath.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said: “The President was certainly familiar with what his son was going to say. And I think what you saw was from the heart from his son.” Asked if Joe Biden had any hand in drafting his son’s presentation, she said that he “was familiar” with the statement, but declined to comment further.
