Opposition to the War Growing in Ukraine, Observers Report

The Washington Post carries describes how Ukrainian military-age men (18-60) are seeking all kinds of ways to leave the country to avoid being dragooned into the military. “Ukraine needs fighters even more than bullets, leading to a search for new ways to mobilize the population and tougher measures against draft dodgers,” writes the Post. Some try to make their way through the mountains. Others try to make it through large border crossings posing as truck drivers. Some climb into secret compartments of cars, pose as clergymen, dress up as women, or even enter into a fictitious marriage with a disabled relative and try to leave the country as her guardian.
