On Monday night, Dec. 25, authorities in Crimea reported a Ukrainian strike on the port of Feodosia, 155 km east of Sevastopol. “An enemy attack took place near Feodosia. The port area has been cordoned off. At the moment the detonation has stopped, the fire has been localized. All specialized services are working on the site. The residents of several houses are being relocated,” Crimea leader Sergey Aksyonov wrote on his Telegram channel, reported TASS. Later, Aksyonov reported that one person had been killed and two others wounded while six buildings had been damaged. “Transport infrastructure is functioning normally; there are no restrictions on passenger traffic,” he remarked.
Later, the Russian Defense Ministry acknowledged that the Ukrainian missile strike hit the landing ship Novocherkassk. The extent of damage to the ship has not been reported. The ministry also said that the engagement resulted in the downing of two Ukrainian Su-24 jets near the city of Nikolaev by Russian anti-aircraft weaponry.
