An article on Dec. 1 in Sputnik International emphasized that the renewed Israeli assault on Gaza began just as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was leaving Israel, proclaiming his visit “one of the most significant diplomatic moves” to date. Sputnik interviewed Jamal Zahalka, a former Knesset member and veteran Palestinian-Israeli politician, about this, asking him: “Why can Israel afford to ignore Washington’s warnings?”
Zahalka replied: “Israel will continue the war as long as the U.S. continues to supply it with ammunition, equipment, bombs, as well as political, moral and financial support…. The Biden administration has fully accepted Israel’s goals in this war and supports them. This is evidenced by Blinken’s latest visit, after which the ceasefire was ended.”
