Think Tank Proposes To Transfer Hamas Leaders to Algiers, Set Up Arab Peacekeeping Force

A Riyadh-based think tank has put forward a proposal for ending the conflict in Gaza, which would include moving the Hamas leadership to Algeria and deploying Arab peacekeepers to Gaza, according to an article published in Le Monde on Dec. 20.

The document, prepared by the Gulf Research Council and sent to the French Foreign Ministry on Nov. 17, calls for the evacuation to Algiers of the “military and security leaders of Hamas,” the deployment of Arab peacekeepers in Gaza under a UN mandate, steps towards political unification of the Palestinians through the establishment of a “joint transitional council,” comprising the main parties in Gaza (Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Fatah).
