Danish Foreign Minister Distances Himself from Israeli Ministers, Stressing, ‘Gaza Is Palestinian Territory’

COPENHAGEN, Jan. 8, 2024 (EIRNS)—The Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten wrote on Jan. 6: “Recently, Israeli ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, respectively Minister of Finance and Minister of Security, both belonging to the strong nationalist right wing in Israel, caused a stir with controversial statements about Gaza. This has prompted Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen (Moderate Party) to clarify that Denmark is distancing itself from the statements made by the Israeli ministers.” Smotrich and Ben-Gvir called for Israel to establish Jewish settlements in Gaza and “encourage” Palestinians to emigrate to other countries.
