International Coalition To End Genocide in Palestine Urges Support for South Africa’s ICJ Case

A new International Coalition To End Genocide in Palestine was recently formed and is mobilized to urge as many nations as possible to invoke the Genocide Convention against Israel and support the case South Africa has filed at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), charging Israel with violating that Convention and committing genocide against the Palestinian people. As reported by Popular Resistance, the group is urging nations to support South Africa in its case at the ICJ on Dec. 29 by filing Declarations of Intervention which can also be filed at the ICJ.

Members of the new coalition include the Progressive International, the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, Palestinian Assembly for Liberation, Black Alliance for Peace, Popular Resistance, CODEPINK, and the National Lawyers Guild, among others. The Coalition supports South Africa’s legal action, and the call by the Palestinian Anti-Apartheid Coordinating Committee (PAACC) also urging governments to support South Africa’s complaint with “Declarations of Intervention,” which can be filed before or after the hearing, scheduled to take place Jan. 11-12. Suzanne Adely, president of the National Lawyers’ Guild, underscored that “it’s imperative that more states follow South Africa’s historic leadership demanding Israel is held accountable under international law.”
