Putin’s New Appointments in Space and Science Indicate Strategic Direction

Russian President Vladimir Putin made two new appointments that could have some significance in the mobilization to counter the moves of the West against Russia. Putin on Jan. 17 appointed Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev as the special representative of the head of state on cooperation in the field of space. This position had previously been held by Roscosmos chief, Yuriy Borisov.
