Senate Warmongers Demanding Biden Order Attack on Iran

At least three American soldiers were killed and more than 30 others wounded on Jan. 28, by a drone or drones which struck their camp in northwest Jordan near the Syrian and Iraqi borders. On Jan. 21 the New York Times had written that when U.S. troops were killed—"only a matter of time"—it would force “a more decisive retaliation” (against Iran) and “result in a broader regional war.” Now the Senate war hawks are demanding Biden attack in retaliation, not “proxies,” but Iran.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) leads the war-fevered pack: “I am calling on the Biden Administration to strike targets of significance inside Iran, not only as reprisal for the killing of our forces, but as deterrence against future aggression. Hit Iran hard, hit them now,” said Graham. Other vitriolic outbursts demanding war on Iran and its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps came from Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), at least. Former President Trump posted a statement yesterday on social media which appears more moderate, but harps on Biden’s “weakness and surrender,” implying weakness against Iran; it is coherent with GOP war hawks’ statements.
