Russia will be hosting the founding forum of supporters against modern neocolonial practices, under the title, “For the Freedom of Nations!” with delegates attending from Asia, Africa and Ibero America, over Feb. 15-17. Sputnik, in previewing the event, reports that the President of the Central African Republic Faustin-Archange Touadéra will attend, according to a statement by Russian Ambassador to the C.A.R. Alexander Bikantov. “The President of the Central African Republic will be in Moscow from Feb. 14-16 to participate in the anti-colonial forum. The event is being held by the United Russia party,” Bikantov said, adding that “it is appropriate to expect that the entire range of current bilateral and international issues can be discussed.”
Touadéra will be holding working sessions with Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev and other officials. Russia and C.A.R. have enjoyed very close relations in recent years. Touadéra attended the July 27-28, 2023 Russia-Africa Forum in St. Petersburg that was hosted by President Vladimir Putin.
The anti-colonialist forum this week is an initiative of Medvedev in his capacity as Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman and chairman of the United Russia party. In March 2023, Medvedev said of his initiative, speaking at its first organizing committee meeting, “The forum could become a permanently operating international platform where political forces of different countries could meet regularly, work out a joint strategy of action, search for common approaches to solving regional and international problems, and fight those destructive forces which actively practice neocolonialistic approaches today.”
