China’s Envoy to India: "Positive Momentum of Improvement" in Relations

Beijing’s envoy to India, Ma Jia, noted yesterday that trade between India and China has hit a historic high of $136.2 billion. Even though 2023 trade was only marginally higher than 2022, of note was that India’s exports to China increased by 6%. So, previous grounds for dissatisfaction earlier, that China was getting the better of the arrangement, are seen to be lessened. Jia stated: “Over the past year, China-India relations have shown a positive momentum of improvement. The two sides maintained high-level communications and interactions.” She spoke at a Chinese New Year carnival in New Delhi.
