The Italian Chamber of Deputies has approved a nonpartisan motion calling on the Meloni government “to support all initiatives aimed at the unconditional release of Israeli hostages and to call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza in order to protect the safety of Gaza’s civilian population, while also ensuring the provision of continuous, rapid and safe humanitarian aid inside the [Gaza] Strip.”
The vote came Feb. 13, after an agreement reached by phone call between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Democratic Party leader Elly Schlein.
