A Zelenskyy Parliamentarian: Dictatorship Sounds Bad, but Good for War

March 19, 2024 (EIRNS)—While Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday converted U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham to the new democratic way of canceling elections, one of his “Servant of the People” members of the unicameral Verkhovna Rada, Sergey Demchenko, was on Ukraine’s “Novyny Live” defending Zelenskyy’s dictatorial form of democracy.

Five years ago this month, Zelenskyy had won a five-year term, running as a peace candidate against the incumbent anti-Russian President Petro Poroshenko. The constitutionally-mandated election for a new five-year period, scheduled for this month, had been overridden by the declaration of martial law. So, as long as a war situation remains, Zelenskyy is expected to never have to face the voters.
