Angolan President Holds Intensive Talks with Chinese Industry Leaders

March 17, 2024 (EIRNS)—During Angolan President João Lourenço’s state visit to China March 14-17, he held extensive discussions with leaders of major Chinese industries regarding continued economic development in Angola, reported Angola Press Agency. In addition to meetings with President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang, and NPC Chairman Zhao Leji in Beijing, President Lourenço met with the following people:

• Chairman of the China Gezhouba Group Corporation Tan Hua.

• Chairman of the board of the Hebei Huatong Cable Group Zhang Wedong “with whom he spoke about the progress of the works of an aluminum production plant in Bengo province with a capacity to produce 120,000 tonnes per year.”

• President of the Aviation Technology International Engineering Corporation (AVIC), Liu Hongguang, “which was in charge of building the newly inaugurated Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport last year in Luanda.”

• Chairman of the board of directors of the Zhejiang Sunshine Industrial Group Wu Hongxin, “which has invested $550 million in Angola.”
