March 11, 2024 (EIRNS)—In response to a remark by U.K. Foreign Secretary David Cameron in an interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung on March 9, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said in the Caren Miosga TV show last night that she was in favor of a “ring exchange” which would give Taurus missiles to the U.K., which then would supply Ukraine with British Storm Shadow missiles.

Baerbock said, though, that she would also be in favor of direct German Taurus deliveries to Ukraine, since Kiev needed extensive longer-range weapons systems with regard to the mine belt in the east of the country, not only including, for example, rocket launchers and self-propelled howitzers, which Germany had already supplied, but also “in brackets: also the Taurus.” This just made clear that she openly opposes Chancellor Olaf Scholz who has, so far at least, ruled out Taurus deliveries to Ukraine.

Baerbock furthermore attacked Pope Francis for his “white flag” recommendation, declaring that he should rather visit the front line in Ukraine to see what the “reality” there is, and why it was necessary to continue the war.
