Biden’s Humanitarian Pier Proposal Was Netanyahu’s Idea

March 12, 2024 (EIRNS)—An article released March 10 in the Jerusalem Post quotes an unnamed senior Israeli official who claimed that Biden’s March 7 proposal in his State of the Union for an American-built pier off the coast of Gaza to deliver aid was in reality an Israeli proposal. “Netanyahu took the initiative to establish maritime humanitarian aid for the civilian population in the Gaza Strip, in collaboration with the Biden administration,” the source stated. Netanyahu had posed it to Biden at the end of October, including the mandate that the ships be inspected by Israel in Cyprus. Netanyahu also discussed it with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides on Oct. 31.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the source, who is close to the Prime Minister, insinuated that Biden was simply implementing a plan by Netanyahu, not actually initiating anything new.

The news, if true, proves that Biden has actually not taken any stance different from Israel’s overarching policy in respect to Gaza, despite feigning to do the opposite.
