George Galloway Defended Gaza; U.K. Voters Elect Him to Parliament

March 1, 2024 (EIRNS)—Renowned anti-war militant George Galloway, of the (small) Workers Party of Britain, made stopping U.K. support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza the front-edge plank in his campaign to represent Rochdale in the House of Commons. He told voters that the election was “a referendum on Gaza,” and he won the election hands-down, coming in with 40% of the vote, nearly double the votes of the second runner-up.

“This is for Gaza,” Galloway declared in his victory speech after the count was finished. “You will pay a high price for the role that you have played in enabling, encouraging and covering for the catastrophe presently going on in occupied Gaza, in the Gaza Strip,” he warned Keith Starmer, the would-be Tony Blair clone heading the Labour Party. “This is going to spark a landslide, a shifting of the tectonic plates in scores of parliamentary constituencies, beginning here in the north-west” and then around the country, Galloway stated confidently.
