Israel Tells World Court There’s No Starvation in Gaza, South African Claim Is ‘Morally Repugnant’

March 19, 2024 (EIRNS)—At The Hague, Israel has responded to South Africa’s latest request to the International Court of Justice—which had called for interim orders to prevent starvation in Gaza—by essentially perjuring itself. According to AP, Israel said that South Africa’s claims in its request filed earlier this month are “wholly unfounded in fact and law, morally repugnant, and represent an abuse both of the Genocide Convention and of the Court itself.”

AP did not fail to note the obvious, that Israel’s response was published on the same day that the UN Food and Agriculture Organization exposed that “famine is imminent” in northern Gaza, that 70% of Gaza’s 2.3 million people are experiencing catastrophic hunger, and that a further escalation of the war could push around half of Gaza’s total population to the brink of starvation.
