March 28, 2024 (EIRNS)—The Kiev regime seems to be expecting a direct Russian attack on Kiev itself. One eyewitness told TASS yesterday that Ukrainian forces “are strengthening defenses all around the city, establishing new posts to station troops.” A resident of northwestern Kiev, in turn, noted that the old trenches dug in a forested area in that part of the city “were renovated in recent days, cleared of grass and even deepened.” He added: “They are also digging new trenches; previously abandoned areas have now become operational. Military personnel are present where wooden constructions used to stand, namely bad weather shelters.”
Meanwhile, AP reported overnight that Russian air strikes, using aerial bombs (probably newly equipped with glide bomb kits) hit Kharkov yesterday. Sergey Bolvinov, head of the investigative police department in Kharkiv, said in a Telegram post that yesterday’s attack marked the first time aerial bombs were used since 2022. Regional governor Oleh Syniehubov also reported the use of aerial bombs.
