March 15, 2024 (EIRNS)—The office of Prime MInister Benjamin Netanyahu, as reported by the Jerusalem Post, this morning announced that Netanyahu had approved the military operation for Rafah to go forward. Israel’s government contends that they have a plan to evacuate civilians to “humanitarian islands”—assumedly camps where 1.4 million Palestinians presently in the Rafah area are to be concentrated. Not long afterwards, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters in Austria, as reported by the Times of Israel, that the United States needs to see a clear and implementable plan for getting the civilians out of harm’s way, and they have not yet seen such. It would appear that Netanyahu may well proceed with the invasion of Rafah without his longtime ally’s agreement.
