March 28, 2024 (EIRNS)—On March 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the chief of Niger’s chairman of Niger’s National Council, General Abdourahmane Tiani, held a phone discussion on “security cooperation” and security concerns in the Sahel region, according to a comunique release by of Niger’s government. They also discussed “projects for multi-sector and global strategic cooperation,” it added without further explanation. The discussion followed a visit in January of a delegation led by Niger’s Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine, during which security cooperation was also discussed.
