March 7, 2024 (EIRNS)—Following the shooting on a subway train between apparent gang members on March 4, which killed one and injured five (no one has been arrested as yet), New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that 750 members of the National Guard are being deployed to the subway system, to join with New York City police, who are already checking bags for weapons at the entrances to stations. She is also adding 250 state troopers and transit cops to the deployment. She said this would “create a deterrent effect.”
