Scholz Tries To Talk Down Easter Marches, Says We Must Make War for Peace

March 30, 2024 (EIRNS)—German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who claims it was useless to talk to Vladimir Putin, alleging the Russian President was not interested anyway, has not been on the phone with Putin since December 2022. Appeals from numerous sides, including from his own Social Democratic Party, for Scholz to initiate talks with Russia have so far been to no avail.

In an attempt to play down the Easter Marches, rallies for ceasefire and stopping to send weapons and supplies to Ukraine, Chancellor Scholz is asserting that the conditions for a just peace—which people are calling for at 70 Easter marches and rallies this Easter weekend—are not there. “Peace without freedom means oppression. There is no peace without justice,” asserted Scholz in his “Kanzler Kompakt” video podcast, which aired today. “That is why we are supporting Ukraine in its fight for a just peace—for as long as it is necessary.”
