Russia Warns Finland and Other Countries Against Taking in US Nuclear Weapons

March 7, 2024 (EIRNS)—Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned yesterday that any country that hosts US nuclear weapons is making itself a target and will be less secure. She was responding to comments made by Finnish President Alexander Stubb on March 1, in which he expressed the wish to have the US nuclear deterrence in Finland.

“You don’t have to be a military planner to understand that such objects will be a source of direct threat and, naturally, will inevitably be included in the list of legitimate targets determined by the scenario of a direct military clash between our country and NATO,” Zakharova told a news conference in Sochi on Wednesday, reported TASS. “And we understand that this is exactly what the US and its satellites are pushing for,” she noted.
