Russia’s Ambassador to U.S. Blasts Obsession with Perpetuating Conflict in Ukraine

March 13, 2024 (EIRNS)—Anatoly Antonov, the Russian ambassador to the U.S., blasted the new package as affirmation of the Biden Administration’s “commitment to the destructive policy of perpetuating military conflict in Ukraine.” However, his comments were not just another Russian attack on U.S. military support to the Kiev regime. Antonov also identified the psychosis that is gripping policymakers in Washington and characterized the Biden Administration’s new budget proposal as crippling for both the U.S. and the world.

“Neither public aversion to military hostilities, nor internal economic problems, nor the border crisis can deter Washington from implementing its illusory idea of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield,” Antonov said in a statement posted last night on the embassy’s Telegram channel. “The United States refuses to understand a simple truth that no American weapon will stop our special military operation. New military equipment will be burned and destroyed. And its use will only lead to an increase in [the] number of casualties among ordinary citizens in the post-Soviet republic.

“An intoxicating idea of a pseudo-victory over Russia and attempts to preserve a world order based on certain rules, beneficial only to Western countries, have become an obsession for local Russophobes. Politicians are ready to disregard all and any barriers on the Capitol Hill to prove to their opponents that they will not stop under any circumstances and will continue their doomed policy on Ukraine. These ideas are reflected in the new White House’s budget request, a budget that is not constructive, but crippling, both for the U.S. economy and the whole planet.

“It got to the point that some high-ranking officials are talking about the need to help Ukrainians launch strikes ‘deep into Crimea.’ In other words, they officially recognize de-facto involvement of the United States into the conflict. However, this is a dangerous policy, fraught with the most unpredictable consequences. Not only for the security of the United States, but also for the whole world.”
