March 15, 2024 (EIRNS)—One thing that can’t be said about the Russian military is that it’s a static organization. Rather, it has proven to be constantly evolving its tactics and weaponry.

Over the last 10-14 days, the Russian Defense Ministry has claimed the destruction of 2 HIMARS launchers, 3 Patriot launchers and 4 Abrams tanks. The HIMARS, Patriots and at least 3 of the tanks were documented on video. The ministry also published video of Russian forces destroying 2 Ukrainian helicopters using cluster munitions and suicide drones.

The apparently successful strikes on Ukrainian equipment that Russia has doggedly targeted, done in quick succession, likely reflects both Moscow’s adaptations and gaps in Ukraine’s Western-dependent arsenal, experts have suggested, reported Newsweek. “It seems the Russians are learning,” Frederik Mertens, an analyst with the Hague Center for Strategic Studies, told Newsweek. “There is a degree of learning and adaptation happening on the battlefield,” agreed Marina Miron, a postdoctoral researcher with the War Studies Department at King’s College London.
