March 7, 2024 (EIRNS)—TASS reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an ambitious road-building program for the southwestern region yesterday. At the meeting on development of South Russia and the Cis-Azov Region he said: “I would like to note in general that we have extensive plans to develop the motorway network of the Azov-Black Sea Region. In the next five years, 460 kilometers of federal and 320 kilometers of regional roads will be constructed and renovated there. We will modernize access ways to … the southern coast of Crimea.” Further development of a motorway around the Sea of Azov should be discussed, Putin added. The roads will help the full integration of all the new Russian territories along the western shore of the Azov Sea.
