The Other Side of Ethnic Cleansing: Green Light for More Illegal West Bank Settlements

March 25, 2024 (EIRNS)—The Israeli government announced that it is designating over 2,000 acres in the West Bank as “state-owned land,” meaning Israel can now seized it for more settlements. An article in RT reported that the Netanyahu regime is making “a move described by rights groups as the biggest land grab on occupied Palestinian territories in decades.”

Such settlements are illegal according to UN Security Council resolutions, but the Netanyahu government is not overly-impressed with the UNSC, or law. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, one of the craziest fanatics in the cabinet, was quoted in the Times of Israel saying: “While there are those in Israel and the world who seek to undermine our right to Judea and Samaria [occupied West Bank] and the country in general, we promote the settlement movement with hard work and in a strategic manner across the country.”

One has to wonder if Jared Kushner also considers this as prime real estate, along with the Gaza waterfront properties he is drooling over.
