April 30, 2024 (EIRNS)—Ninety lawyers, including 20 from the White House, and lawyers from the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security, the Justice Department, the Labor Department, the Energy Department, and from the European Commission, have all signed a letter detailing how Israel is in violation of the Geneva Conventions, the U.S. Arms Export Control Act, and the Leahy Laws. These attorneys argue that President Joe Biden is thereby obliged by law to stop all arms shipments to Israel, reported Politico on April 29.
The letter, which was provided to Politico, explains that strikes against aid convoys, schools, and hospitals are examples of Israel’s violations of international law. It also calls on the Justice Department to investigate any U.S. citizen currently serving in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for potential involvement in these war crimes.
