April 25, 2024 (EIRNS)—British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who met in Berlin yesterday, have agreed to coordinate and intensify the efforts to help Ukraine militarily, according to a joint statement released following a meeting. “Today we have agreed on coordinating and intensifying our efforts and evaluating potential for joint projects,” they said on their statement published on the British government’s website.
Specifically, the countries plan to work together on assistance concerning Ukrainian helicopters. “In particular, we will cooperate on our support of Ukrainian helicopters, including armament, maintenance and training,” Sunak and Scholz said. According to the statement, the leaders believe their support for Ukraine should focus on air defense, drones, artillery, munitions, construction of fortifications, and training Ukrainian personnel. Scholz reiterated his “no” to Taurus missile deliveries, though.
