China Files Official Protests with U.S., Japan over their ‘Leaders Statement’

April 11, 2024 (EIRNS)—The U.S.-Japanese security arrangements discussed during the April 10 summit between Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and President Joe Biden, including cooperation on missile systems and the possibility of Japan joining AUKUS, have blown up the appearance of a warming of U.S.-Chinese relations. China’s Foreign Ministry responded to the “United States-Japan Joint Leaders’ Statement” issued after the talks by filing “serious démarches”—official protests—with both nations, Chinese Foreign Ministry Press Spokeswoman Mao Ning announced at today’s briefing.

China never speaks lightly about interference on questions of Chinese sovereignty, but Mao’s response has a notably harsher tone. While the war-hungry lightweights in Washington may brush China’s response off, American citizens had better take it seriously before they find themselves in a NATO war against the 1.4 billion people of China! The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman charged:

“The U.S. and Japan attacked and smeared China on the Taiwan question and maritime issues, grossly interfered in China’s domestic affairs and violated the basic norms in international relations. China deplores and opposes it, and has made serious démarches to relevant parties….

“I want to stress that there is but one China. This is a historical fact and international consensus. The Taiwan question is purely China’s domestic affair and brooks no external interference. Both the U.S. and Japanese governments have made serious commitments to China on the Taiwan question. In particular, Japan bears serious historical responsibilities for its aggression against Taiwan and colonial rule over the island, and should all the more honor its words and act prudently. We urge the U.S. to translate President Biden’s commitment of not supporting `Taiwan independence’ into concrete actions….
