April 30, 2024 (EIRNS)—At China’s invitation, representatives of Fatah and Hamas—the two main factors in Palestinian politics—met in Beijing to discuss unity and reconciliation. “The two sides fully expressed their political will of realizing reconciliation through dialogue and consultation, had discussions on many specific issues, and made encouraging progress,” said China Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Lin Jian at his press conference today. “They agreed to continue this dialogue process so as to achieve Palestinian solidarity and unity at an early date.” Lin added that the Palestinian representatives thanked China for its efforts and were committed to further dialogue.
