Düsseldorf Easter March Too 'Pro-Russian' and 'Pro-Palestinian'?

April 1, 2024 (EIRNS)—The coordination committee of the Easter Marches movement in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia had decided not to list the anti-war march and rally in Düsseldorf among its activities, on dubious grounds that the event there was penetrated by “conspiracy theorists” and outside of the official Easter Marches narrative. Organizers of the Düsseldorf event declared that the participation of former coronavirus anti-vaccination activists was not a substantial factor, but rather other motives led the coordination committee to this ban. The theme at the Düsseldorf march and rally was “For peace, disarmament and international solidarity—against war-mongering.”

One of those other motives may have been the fact that two leading members of the Wagenknecht party BSW, former Düsseldorf Lord Mayor and former leftwing Social Democrat Thomas Geisel, and former Linke party member of Bundestag Andrej Hunko, were speakers at the Düsseldorf event. Speakers also included a senior representative of the Palestinian community.
