April. 17, 2024 (EIRNS)—The city of Oranienburg, in Brandenburg, has vetoed construction of new EV charging points, heat pumps as well as industrial areas, because the high-voltage network does not have enough capacity for that, the city administration has informed the Federal Network Agency.
“The news is causing a stir,” Handelsblatt commented. “After all, it seems like the first ominous harbinger of the challenges that the energy transition will bring. Member of the Bundestag Michael Kruse (FDP), for example, warns of this on Platform X. The politician writes that the expansion of the electricity grid and renewable energies must be reconciled. ‘Otherwise Oranienburg is just the beginning'.”
