April 16, 2024 (EIRNS)—Ukrainska Pravda took offense today at the report that France had invited Russia to the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the June 6, 1944 Allied landings in Normandy—the belated opening of the second front against the Nazis. Kyiv’s source is the French radio station Europe 1, which stated that Russia would be present in Normandy at the beginning of June if Moscow accepts the Paris invitation. Ukrainska Pravda then explains to their readers: “Background: The Soviet Union did not directly participate in the Allied landing on 6 June 1944 as part of the anti-Hitler coalition in Normandy.”
