ICAN Warns NATO Sharing of U.S. Nuclear Weapons ‘Dangerous and Reckless’

April 24, 2024 (EIRNS)—The International Campaign To Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) told TASS that it views the calls for joint use of nuclear weapons with the U.S. as dangerous and reckless, responding to Polish President Andzrej Duda’s call on April 22 for Poland to join NATO’s nuclear sharing program. Poland is already a non-nuclear participant in the program but Duda now wants U.S. nuclear bombs on Polish territory.

“Calling for further U.S. nuclear sharing is dangerous and irresponsible, it further inflames already high tensions, and shows exactly how this dangerous practice could lead to further tit-for-tat nuclear proliferation,” the ICAN press office said. ICAN believes that the states that deploy nuclear weapons on their territory “are exacerbating nuclear risks, jeopardizing international security, and consenting to be party to mass murder of civilians if the weapons are ever used.”
