Germany’s Rheinmetall Plans Major Expansion of Ammunition Production

April 9, 2024 (EIRNS)—Rheinmetall, Germany’s leading producer of military hardware and ammunition and, after new acquisitions in 2023 of production sites in the United States, Australia, and South Africa, now a leading producer on a global scale, plans a massive increase of its ammunition production in Europe to supply Ukraine. This concerns three sites, in Germany’s Lüneburg Heath, northern Spain, and Hungary’s Veszprém region. There they plan to produce, beginning in 2025, a cumulative total of half a million rounds per year, on the outskirts of the small towns of Unterlüß, Burgos, and Várpalota.

Add to this around 200,000 bullets from their half-dozen existing plants literally all over the world. This starts at the Camden site in Arkansas and extends to South Africa’s four factories of the subsidiary Denel, and on to Australia’s Rheinmetall Nioa in Maryborough on the east coast.
