Shenzhou-18 Launches Mission to the China’s Tiangong Space Station

April 26, 2024 (EIRNS)—Another crew has been launched to the Tiangong Space Station on April 25, which will relieve the crew now on the station after their six-month stay. The crew, commanded by Ye Guangfu, and including rookies Li Cong and Li Guangsu, were born after 1980. A fourth batch of younger taikonauts has now been chosen. There will be some changes in their training schedule as the next group of taikonauts include those who will be sent to the International Lunar Research Station, and they will be charged with different tasks than what is done on the space station.

More than 90 experiments are scheduled to be carried out in and outside of the space station during Shenzhou-18’s six-month stay. These experiments include in microgravity, basic physics, space materials science, space life science, aerospace medicine, and aerospace technology, CNSA spokesperson Lin Xiqiang said April 24 in a briefing the day before launch.
