April 2, 2024 (EIRNS)—A sure-fire signal that U.S. policy towards Israel isn’t going to change, no matter how many Palestinians die in Israel’s genocide campaign, would be new contracts for arms sales. According to a report in Politico that appeared yesterday, the Biden Administration has indeed sent notifications to Congress that it is considering a massive new arms sale to Israel that could include up to 50 F-15 fighter jets, 30 AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles, and a number of Joint Direct Attack Munition kits, which turn unguided bombs into precision guided weapons, the type of weapons that the IDF has been using to level entire city blocks in Gaza. The fact that Congressional committees with jurisdiction have already been notified typically means that the administration is ready to move forward with the sale, says Politico.

According to CNN, the deal could be worth as much as $18 billion, but it will take up to five years to manufacture and deliver the F-15s. CNN adds that the sale is likely to be hotly debated in Congress, particularly by members of the President’s own party.
