April 29, 2024 (EIRNS)—Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is seeking a 10-year security agreement with the U.S., similar to those he’s already gained with a number of European countries. In his Sunday video address, whose transcript is posted in English on his website, he said: “Also, our teams, Ukraine and the United States, are currently working on a bilateral security agreement, and we are already working on a specific text. …

“Today, our teams—of Ukraine and the United States—are working on a bilateral agreement on security. They are already working on the concrete wording. Our goal is to make this agreement the strongest of all. We are discussing the specific foundations of our security and cooperation. We are also working on fixing specific levels of support for this year and for the next ten years, including armed support, financial, political, and joint arms production,” he described of his discussion with Democratic House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, earlier that day.
