‘No Nuclear Weapon’ Policy Could End If Israel Threatens Iran’s Existence

Iran may have to change its nuclear policy, from not producing nuclear weapons, to building nuclear weapons, were Israel to militarily damage Iran’s civilian nuclear facilities, Kamal Kharazzi, a key adviser to Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced on radio May 9.

Kharazzi, who heads Iran’s Strategic Council for Foreign Relations, was interviewed by Al Jazeera Mubahser television network May 9. When asked what Iran would do if its nuclear facilities were attacked, he responded that “we have no decision to build a nuclear bomb, but should Iran’s existence be threatened, there will be no choice but to change our military doctrine,” reports the May 9 Al Monitor. He continued: “If the Zionist regime dares to damage Iran’s nuclear facilities, our deterrence will be different.”
